Independence Day

It’s been a while, friends. Life has not been super available for motorcycle fun. With a kid going off to college this year it was a super busy spring and summer.

But today is July 4th. Today we celebrate the birth of nation which at the time was a relatively extreme idea. Not everything has gone perfectly, there are many dark spots over the last 240+ years, but the real promise of America is that we can get better. We can move towards a more perfect union. No matter how painful it may be, we can acknowledge things aren’t as great as they could be and, as a country, we can change and move the needle.

To love America is to love all Americans.

John Cena

Patriotism is not a pin you wear, a t-shirt you put on, or something you buy from Amazon. You can love your country and want it to be better. Those things are not mutually exclusive. We all want the same things: good jobs, safe neighborhoods, peace. How we get there of course is where the problems start. But if there’s anything I do believe, I believe we can do it. It won’t be easy and it won’t be quick, but we together we can win.

Today, let us remember the things that make us uniquely American, whether there’s a hyphen in front of that or not. Together we are stronger, and until we’re all free, none of us can be truly free.
